Just because it is cold and rainy, doesn’t mean your home styling has to be subdued and cool.
Bold colours are in and are a great way to warm up your abode this winter.
There are many ways to bring warmth to your home and the team at the Style Studio by Summit share their top styling tips for winter 2019:
Colour, colour, colour
Vintage jewellery hues are on trend, particularly in tones of emerald and burgundy and these can be implemented in wallpaper or flowers. Think faux or fresh flowers, such as peonies or Australian proteas in bold pinks, whites, natural and greens against dark walls.
Wallpaper with a charcoal background with massive blooms, of about 600-700mm in diameter are popular. For a more affordable option, consider wall decals. You can paint the walls and then place the floral decals in a pattern of your choice.
A nice feature in the cooler months. Rattan furniture is good for utilising a space simply. Team it with oversized pendants and big floor rugs, such as a sheepskin to bring in warmth and something tactile.
Vintage floor rugs
These are very popular for winter and bring a worn out, authentic look. They could have sentimental value and could be passed down through the family. They are good additions to a living room or a study. Sapphire, aubergine and orange tones are good choices. Persian or vintage rugs are timeless pieces and moving them to different spaces within the home, or adding different cushions to the space, help mix it up.
Big, tall, oblong or funky vases in deep jewel tones against dark walls are a striking winter look.
