For 18 months, Penny and Craig have had the joy of waking up each morning to uninterrupted views across the river plain from their newly built home in Australind.
“Overlooking the escarpment and watching the sun rise directly in front of us is something to behold,” Penny said.
When they came across this perfectly-positioned block, it was a no-brainer whether Penny and Craig would either build their next home, or buy established.
“Once our children moved out of home, we wanted to downsize and build a home that wasn’t going to require any ongoing maintenance or repairs for a few years,” Penny said.
“By building we were able to have a home exactly the way we wanted it, as opposed to buying an established home and having to change things that we were not happy with.
“Our home was designed for our lifestyle and the view we were able to capture from the build.
“We wished to have the living areas such as the lounge, dining and kitchen at the front of house so we could enjoy the stunning views.”
When it comes to choosing a builder for their new home, months of research went into finding the perfect home.
“We visited numerous display homes all the way from Alkimos in the north to Vasse in the south, as well browsing many display homes online,” Penny said.
“That’s when we came across the Mod by Summit Homes and it was the first home we both fell in love with.
“The front aesthetics of the house really caught our attention. We then drove to see the home in person and decided that we wanted our home to have the same exterior, including the colours and textures.
“Unfortunately, with the frontage of our block, we were unable to have the Mod built exactly like the display, but Summit came up with the idea of building it as an undercroft house while still keeping the same façade feature on the Mod.”
Having been the first time they had built a home, Penny and Craig said the thought of building at first was a little overwhelming, but their worries were soon eased when they met their Site Supervisor, who they were able to contact 24/7 if needed.
“I would definitely recommend Summit to family and friends,” Craig said.
“Given that each person has their own likes and dislikes, I would strongly suggest viewing all of Summit’s display homes – even it means having to do many day trips as we did on many occasions.
“This is where you notice the quality and design from builder-to-builder and you’re able to see exactly what you like and don’t like in each home – which ultimately allows you to have a home tailored exactly to your preferences.”
