What the best choice of flooring for you?

Posted 9 April 2019

Choosing the type of flooring for your new home is among one of the biggest decisions you can make in the design process.

From timber laminate, vinyl planks, tiles or carpet, there are so many options to consider.

You also need to take into account your lifestyle – do you have pets or young children? What works best for your budget or what is the best choice if a member of the family suffers from allergies?

Here at the Style Studio by Summit  we share our expertise to help you in making that all important decision.

Carpet is an economical choice, it is warm and soft to walk on making it an excellent option for bedrooms or the theatre room.

Vinyl flooring is also affordable, and like carpet is also soft and warm to walk on. Vinyl replicates a great wooden floor look for a cheaper price.

Laminate flooring has grown in popularity in recent years and is a cheaper option than timber flooring and looks almost the same.

There is a huge range of colours available and it looks more realistic as timber flooring than ever before.

It is also quick and easy to install. Best of all, most laminates come with a 20 year warranty, so in the unlikely event something goes wrong, you are covered.

Laminate flooring can really set the scene of a home and has more of an impact than traditional tiles.

Vinyl plank flooring is also becoming very popular and like laminate, comes in an array of colour choices.

Best of all, it feels good to walk on with a great solid feel.

Timber flooring brings a great look to a home, particularly in the traditional Blackbutt and Jarrah. The advantage of timber is it helps cool a home in summer and keeps it warm in winter.

And you have the options of using rugs in the home to create versatility in design.

For parents with young children, carpet in the bedrooms and laminate or vinyl planks in the living areas are the best flooring options.

Vinyl planks replicate the wooden look in the living areas, while carpet is less expensive and brings a warm feeling to bedrooms.

Carpet in bedrooms is also great for allergy sufferers, as carpet traps dust particles in and keeps them there until you vacuum.
