From the street this Fremantle property looks just like any other heritage home, take a closer look however and you’ll find it brimming with modern perks and lots of quirky personality.

The homeowners, Graeme and Annabel, approached Summit for professional help on how to update their historic cottage to meet the demands of modern lifestyles without compromising on the character of the home.

“Updating the home with modern bathrooms and kitchen to make it comfortable and easy to maintain. It is important that we keep the integrity of the 1903 worker’s cottage and the Federation streetscape,” said Graeme and Annabel.

Design Consultant Charlie, helped the couple pin point how they wanted to utilise their home and provided solutions on how to best execute their ideas.

“The design stage with Summit was satisfying as they listened to what we wanted and delivered on that.

“The initial input by Charlie provided valuable insights to the use of the dwelling.”

Graeme and Annabel wanted to redesign the home’s layout to maximise the use of each space and better suit their way of living.

The existing dining, living and entry rooms were joined to create one large open-plan living area.

While a study, two separate sitting rooms, a utility room and a self-contained guest bedroom were created to increase the home’s functionality.

“We love our new home as it’s a perfect space where we can entertain the four generations of the family at the same time in the open plan living/kitchen area.”
