The Hopkins family’s 1950s abode had undergone several alterations throughout the years, resulting in a home that had a different look and feel throughout. Plus with a home that was close to 70 years old, it had a lot of maintenance issues that needed attending to.
A renovation with Summit was the most convenient and easiest solution.
“We worked with Jim who came up with a fantastic design for our home, he was always very accommodating,” Kelly said.
“We renovated both the ground and second floor inside and out. The upstairs was clad with 1970s hardy plank which contained asbestos and we replaced it with Master Wall so that it looks like rendered brick and matches downstairs.
“All the windows upstairs, the ensuite and the kitchen are all new and we added a huge balcony to make the most of our city views.
“Downstairs we took out some internal walls to open up the living area. This also means we can see the city from our backyard looking through the dining and lounge room.
“We have more than one favourite part of the house now; the kitchen, upstairs bathroom and balcony. Ultimately we achieved fixing all of the maintenance issues, but also made the most of our views which are now are visible from nearly every room in the house.
The end result is amazing. Some people have asked us if it was a new build! We love that our 1950s house now looks like new.
