As a vertically integrated builder, Summit Homes Group manufactures all our steel frames in-house at BackBone Steel — our purpose-built facility in Myaree that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This includes frames for our brickhybrid and fully framed homes, as well as roof frames and trusses across all brands: Summit Homes, Easystart Homes, New Gen Homes, Granny Flats, Developments, Renovations, Tiny Homes and Modular.
As a subsidiary of Summit Homes Group, BackBone Steel precision rolls, forms, and assembles all the steel frame walls and roof trusses for our builds. This integration allows us to control our supply of materials and labour, resulting in faster build times, greater efficiency, and consistent quality.
We also only use the highest quality Australian Bluescope TRUECORE® steel.
Our frames are crafted from premium Australian Bluescope TRUECORE® steel, renowned for its exceptional strength and durability. TRUECORE® steel resists shrinking, twisting, and warping over time, and is naturally 100% termite and borer-proof without needing chemical treatments.
Thanks to its precise, straight lines and excellent strength-to-weight ratio, TRUECORE® steel provides greater design flexibility and architectural possibilities.
Safety is paramount: TRUECORE® steel won’t ignite or fuel the spread of fire, helping your home meet strict requirements for building in high Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) zones.
Plus, steel is fully recyclable—making it a smart, sustainable choice for future-proof building.
The Enduro CAD system enables precise roof drawings and quantity calculations, facilitating accurate material ordering without requiring an on-site visit. This process minimises waste and eliminates measurement errors associated with manual site assessments.
By integrating Enduro CAD with our in-house production team, Summit Homes Group ensures consistent accuracy in roof pitch and dimensions. This approach stands in contrast to traditional stick-frame methods, where on-site measurements and cutting can introduce variability in roof heights and spans due to human error.
Also known as fully framed construction, this method uses precision-engineered steel truss roofs and wall frames made from TRUECORE® steel — trusted for its strength, durability, and resistance to termites, warping and shrinking.
The steel frame provides a stable, lightweight structure that’s ideal for a variety of home designs and site conditions. Insulation is installed within the frame for excellent energy efficiency, while plasterboard finishes the interior walls for a smooth, modern look.
Externally, homes are typically finished with Masterwall, an advanced rendered cladding system that delivers a high-quality, contemporary façade with outstanding thermal and acoustic performance.
This building method is a combination of brickwork, steel frames made from TRUECORE® steel and plasterboard, creating energy efficiencies during the build as well as when you’re living in your new home.
BrickHybrid homes provide better insulation, keeping you warmer in the winter and cool in WA’s sweltering summers. Another plus is BrickHybrid homes offer the best results in regards to soundproofing your ears from noise pollution.
At Summit Homes, we give you more choice in the latest construction methods. This means you can choose the method that’s right for you, your home, and your block.
Our three construction methods include double brick, BrickHybrid (more commonly known as brick veneer) and steel frame.
Your building consultant will help you decide which method is right for you. The choice will come down to a number of factors such as the home design, block orientation and soil type.
This means you’ll receive unbiased advice and we’ll help you choose the right option for you.
This method is the most traditional building method in WA. Double brick homes offer fairly decent acoustic properties, meaning you’ll enjoy a reduction in noise pollution (sounds, singing, blender, beats etc.)
However, brick’s thermal qualities aren’t as quite good as our Brickhybrid or Steel Framed methods. Due to innovation in steel construction, the industry is slowly saying goodbye to double brick.
Employed in our Renovation Second Storey Additions, Modular, and Tiny Homes product line, modular construction is carried out offsite and then transported to the final site for installation. This method significantly reduces construction time frames and allows us to precisely manage materials, minimising waste and optimising resource use.
