Please tell us about your home design and why you chose it.
We chose the Tivoli design as there were several features we loved.
The master bedroom being central in the home was a plus for us with early morning starts meaning less disruption than if the master was located at the front of back of the home, we also liked that the minor bedrooms were bigger than most standard homes and the ability to up-spec to high raking ceilings.
We made a few changes to the design, adding an extra 1.5mts to the living areas at the back of the home which meant we were able to increase the size of the kitchen island and add a turnaround which then increased bench space.
We also loved that we had the option to build a fully cladded timber frame home, from an environmental perspective this was important to us and we knew the look and feel of a timber home was what would suit us best in the South West.
How did you hear about Summit South West?
We had heard about Summit through a few friends who had or were building with Summit.
The main reason we initially liked Summit was due to the quality and the look and feel of the display homes we visited, we chose Summit because we knew that they employed local people, the communication from the beginning was brilliant and we were able to make the changes we wanted.
What was your favourite part of the building process?
We found the entire process enjoyable, the pre-start was fun and we loved the spec of the benchmark inclusions.
We upgraded where we thought it would be valuable to for example the tiles chosen for the kitchen and laundry and ensuite but were generally impressed by the top quality and choice of the benchmark inclusions.
What advice would you offer someone who is considering building a home?
Ask all the questions, there is no such thing as a silly question. This is your home and you have worked so hard to get to the stage of building you deserve to be able to have a clear understanding of everything you need or just want to know.
If you have a team that is more than happy to answer your questions, listen and support you through the process you will enjoy the build journey.
In terms of choosing your finishes for your home I would recommend doing your own research, and think about how you use your home not just what it might look like, your home can be beautiful and functional if you spend a bit of time researching yourself.
