Tell us a bit about your home and how did you came to the decision to renovate?

The original house was built in the mid-80s with a solid foundation and a gorgeous frontage, so we knew that we could easily make it our forever home.

When we bought it, it was always with the intention that we would one day renovate it. However, we wanted to live in the house for a few years before committing to a renovation.

Three-and-a-half years later, we started the planning process and engaged with Summit.

Was this your first time renovating?

We had renovated our first house together, however it was a completely different experience given the difference in time constraints, goals and outcome.

With the first renovation, we needed it completed quickly and with neither of us familiar with the building industry, we went mostly with what was suggested to us.

Knowing that we would eventually sell and move later, we did not put as much thought or effort as we did this time around, whereas the goal this time was to build our forever home which would accommodate our growing family whilst having the luxury of being about to enjoy the process.

What did you want to achieve with your renovation?

The end goal was for us to have our forever home. Specifically, we wanted to have an open floor plan for the living areas, modernise the design and style of the home, increase our built-in storage and essentially make the home more amenable to change as our children get older.

The overall floorplan of the house did not change with renovation. While we initially considered extending the property, our Summit Designer refined our wishes and ideas and helped improve the flow of the house to the point where we clearly could see we did not require additional floor space. Instead, we used the funds elsewhere in the renovation.

While we loved the exterior of our place, we wanted to modernise the look and style of the interiors to set the house up for the long term. Summit’s Interior Designer was able to decipher our vision and help translate it into reality.

The end result.. we now have an open plan kitchen with scullery, dining and living space, as well as a modernised formal lounge.

The living area has staking doors which open out into new alfresco with skillion roof, and we have a renovated laundry, powder room, toilet, bathroom and master ensuite with a larger porch, a new double garage and a larger balcony off the master suite.

Overall, how was your experience with Summit?

From start to finish, we are very happy with our experience with Summit. So much so, that we have actively promoted Summit and the amazing work completed within our circle of family and friends. In fact, there is one renovation that we know has been completed as part of our referral.

We had been undergoing a consultation process with another provider for a couple of year prior to reaching out to Summit. We were hesitant at the beginning, having previously spent money in the consultation process.  However, after meeting with our Designer, we were convinced that Summit would be able to help us achieve our vision.

Our Project Coordinator kept on top of contract details and timings so well that it was one less thing to worry about. And the Interior Designer was able to help us achieve the interior look that we hoped for.

We were also very happy with having our Site Supervisor who understood the way we communicated and always called with solutions already in hand to any problems that arose.

Also it’s worth mentioning, that our renovation started right when the pandemic reared its head and I commend the Summit team on the way they handled the requirements asked of them while they completed the works.

How long has it been since Summit completed your renovation and how do you feel about your newly renovated home?

Our renovations were completed August 2020, However, we did not move back in until November that year. We have been enjoying and loving the house since moving in, frequently referring to it as our sanctuary. We also love sharing the space with family and friends, all who are equally appreciative of the work that has been completed to get our house to where it is now.

Any additional comments?

We are so glad to have chosen Summit for our renovations. We previously completed a project with Summit Developments in 2013 and we were confident that we could entrust the renovation of our home with them again.

A huge thanks goes out to the team who worked on our home. Their pleasant demeanor, exemplary approach to customer service, knowledge of their respective trades and committment to making our vision a reality is to be commended.
