As first time home-owners and first time builders the most important thing for us was building with someone we could trust and who we knew would support us along the way. Chris gave us this reassurance and he was true to his word – he helped us at every step of the journey and we are so grateful for his guidance.

First home owners, Danielle and Matthew, built their European inspired custom home in Treeby.
Please tell us about your home design and why you chose it.
Matt’s a graduate of architecture, so we went into it always intending on designing the home ourselves. Our block is a bit of a unique shape, which presented a few difficulties when we were tossing up between a single or double storey. After a couple of months, we finally made the decision to go two storey, Matt finished drawing up the plans and it became the house we live in today.
What was the most important thing that you wanted to achieve with your new home?
The one thing we really wanted from the onset was a decent sized backyard with access to it from every room in the house. We felt as though this was something that was becoming more and more unachievable within our price range and with the sizes of blocks these days.
We managed to achieve this by wrapping the whole house around our central courtyard and now we can get a view of the backyard from every living space within the house.
What was your favourite part of the pre-construction process?
It was a lot of fun driving through new estates all over Perth trying to find the suburb we could picture ourselves starting a family together in. Being able to really take the time ourselves to work through a design and make sure we were really happy with it before approaching anyone for help to make it happen.
How did you hear about Summit?
We had a chat to a couple of different builders before we came to Summit.
One day we sent through all Matt’s drawings to see if Summit could make it happen, our fantastic sales rep helped us work down the design until it was within our budget without sacrificing any of our rooms or the integrity of the design – something previous builders we had spoken to struggled with. That sealed the deal for us.
