“Living in the home was certainly worth the money we saved from avoiding rent,” they explained. “The tradies and supervisor were always highly respectful and kept a clean site. Being so close to the construction process also meant we could make minor improvements along the way, which collectively made a huge difference.”

Cameron and his family adored their 100-year-old West Leederville home for its character and charm. But as their kids grew older, they needed more space and functionality. They turned to Summit Renovations, with the project led by Senior Designer Angelo Tomassone, to transform their beloved home into one that blends heritage warmth with modern family living.

The renovation reconfigured and expanded the home to suit their lifestyle. One existing room was converted into a walk-in robe and ensuite, with a separate bathroom added for the children. A new extension created space for a laundry, powder room, and a contemporary open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area — giving the family the room they needed while preserving the character they loved. During the renovation, the team uncovered feature existing brickwork, which was carefully preserved, and added striking internal tuck-pointing to the dining area, enhancing the home’s architectural charm.

The completed renovation beautifully balances style and functionality, giving the family the space they needed without having to leave the home they love. “Anything extra we spent on quality, we do not regret. It’s good to keep some room in your budget for this.”
