Tiny Home Project Overview
Tiny Homes by Summit recently completed a multi-dwelling development in Northam, Western Australia. The project aimed to deliver four high-quality, turnkey homes within a remarkably short timeframe, addressing the region’s significant housing challenges. This case study highlights how Tiny Homes by Summit’s innovative approach to modular construction allows us to meet the growing demand for housing, while maintaining the high standards expected of conventional homes.
Tiny Home Project Goals
The main objective of this project was to provide fast, affordable housing in response to the urgent need for homes in Western Australia. By designing and constructing Tiny Homes off-site in a controlled facility, Tiny Homes by Summit was able to drastically reduce construction timelines and deliver homes that meet traditional build standards. This efficiency is crucial in meeting the market demand for our client, and helping the clients who will eventually move into the homes, move in as quickly as possible.
Design & Development Process
Tiny Homes by Summit worked closely with the client throughout the design and development stages, ensuring that the homes met the necessary specifications and requirements. The homes were built within a timeframe of 6 to 9 weeks, and once delivered to the site, the final touches—such as landscaping, fencing, patios, driveways, and footpaths—were completed in an additional 6 to 8 weeks. This turnkey approach, which includes full site preparation and development, ensured that the homes were ready for occupancy in less than half the time of a traditionally built home.
The construction methodology of the homes, ‘modular construction’ is a pre-fabricated build method, which means the homes are built off site, this results in minimal waste. The homes are then transported to site ready for final installation. Find out more about construction of our Tiny Homes here.
Impact on the Housing Market
In response to Western Australia’s current housing crisis, Summit’s approach to Tiny Homes offers a practical solution. These homes provide a comfortable standard of living in a much shorter construction period, helping to alleviate some of the pressure on the housing market. The project’s success demonstrates the viability of Tiny Homes as a quick, cost-effective solution for large-scale housing development.
Conclusion
The Northam Tiny Home project is a prime example of how modular construction can help solve modern housing issues. Summit’s ability to deliver quality homes rapidly and efficiently is proving to be a game changer in addressing both the supply and demand challenges faced by the housing market in Western Australia. The project was executed seamlessly, showcasing the potential of modular and Tiny housing to provide sustainable solutions in a time of need.
